It has been very challenging though, we wouldn't have it any other way.
This book not only gives you loving advice and guidance, but it gives you
resources on specifically where to go for help and it shares the experiences of other
caregivers. Two thumbs up for the writers of this book.

"The Inspired Caregiver" is written in an honest and candid way, with lots of good quotes and tips for success and survival in caring for another person while living with a sense of sacred joy in life. Written in a "Pay it Forward" sincere manner, Peggi and Tia have created a gentle connection between the life lessons they have learned, and a personal lifeline for those caregivers who perhaps are isolated and in need of an understanding guide that can only come from someone who has "been there". This is a little jewel of a book.

I loved reading this book! I have been in a position of caregiving for many years and wish I would have had this back at the beginning. There are so many gold nuggets scattered throughout that pop into my mind as situations in my real life. Peggi and Tia reminded me that caregiving does not have to diminish the joy of living my life, it adds to it! Thank you so much!

Swiss-born Alberto Bachmann was a concert violinist and composer whose enthusiasm for the instrument compelled him to write about it. He wrote Le Violon in 1906, Les Grands Violinistes du Pass� in 1913, Gymnastique � l’Usage des Violinistes in 1914, and culminated his work as a writer in 1925 with the publication of this encyclopedia.

An unique window into a bygone era

Perhaps one of the broadest accounts of the violin ever written, An Encyclopedia of the Violin is a well-written, fascinating, and at times nostalgic account of violinmakers, performers, violin literature, and more. This is truly an epic and groundbreaking book that covers more information than one would expect from a volume several times larger. Published in 1925, it contains rare photographs of distinguished violins and bows, as well as well as vivid descriptions of intricate details of these instruments, as well as a guide on how make them! Another section is devoted to violin technique, including advice on how to play difficult passages from the violin literature. In addition, there is also a massive dictionary of violinists, containing the author's often insightful analysis into the style of the performers, and also includes their biographical information. INTRUSION DETECTION AND CORRELATION: Challenges and Solutions presents intrusion detection systems (IDSs) and addresses the problem of managing and correlating the alerts produced.� This volume discusses the role of intrusion detection in the realm of network security with comparisons to traditional methods such as firewalls and cryptography.�

The Internet is omnipresent and companies have increasingly put critical resources online.� This has given rise to the activities of cyber criminals. Virtually all organizations face increasing threats to their networks and the services they provide.� Intrusion detection systems (IDSs) take increased pounding for failing to meet the expectations researchers and IDS vendors continually raise.� Promises that IDSs are capable of reliably identifying malicious activity in large networks were premature and never tuned into reality.�

While virus scanners and firewalls have visible benefits and remain virtually unnoticed during normal operations, the situation is different with intrusion detection sensors.� State-of-the-art IDSs produce hundreds or even thousands of alerts every day.� Unfortunately, almost all of these alerts are false positives, that is, they are not related to security-relevant incidents.

Great introduction for guitar

My father had this book when learning guitar and he gave up the instrument (not saying the book was the reason). I later discovered it and it was my first introduction to the instrument in book format. I still play guitar 20 years later and have the book on my shelf. This book helped me learn to read music on the guitar and I recommend it over any Mel Bay beginner book.

A lot of exercises, simplified from complex concert pieces and/or variations on well-known themes.

I guess it would make it much more interesting for a true beginner player, and also it's very good for an intermediate player because he can familiarize with pieces very easily - the arrangement and fingering is so good so sometimes you can almost sight read it.

Excellent Book For Trading Ideas!

I have used this book many times since I bought it. It never fails to give me a new trading idea, or help me put a new wrinkle on some strategy I am developing. This is one of the few trading books I regularly take off my bookshelf and use!

Great book. See examples of working mechanical systems.

This book takes 10 biases, explains their reasoning and gives quantitative back-up for how each does in a Tradestation simulated back-test. Art is a successful mechanical trader so you get a look into how he thinks and how he interprets the results. Each bias is relatively simple and demonstrated to have a small but definable edge across multiple markets.

The aspect to this book that is most interesting is how to integrate these various small biases into a master composite 'index'. As Bob Pardo writes in the Foreward section of this book "indexing can be very powerful... It can be a very effective way to 'summarize' large amounts of complex information."

I find that if I can take just 1 or 2 practical ideas from a book, it is a good book. This book did more than that -- it got me started on 'indexing' for individual stock lists and sparking new directions for me. I highly recommend this book to anyone -- but especially those with some kind of competence in quantitative methods to trading.

Very simple strategies; good for beginners in pure mechanical trading

The book is quite slim if you notice that there are many tables, and the TS code begins at page 205. The strategies are so simple that the TS code was only useful a few times for confirming the rules that were not completely clear in the text.
The book shows a series of "strategies" and some backtests.
The problem is that all these strategies are extremely simple and very similar to each other. They often involve daytrades, buying the open and selling at the close, or entering on stop at the open +- a buffer. For the majority of the strategies, no slippage and no commissions are taken into account. The problem is that in the real world, they often turn daytrading strategies from apparently good to losers. The author does point out slippage and commissions, but often forget about them in the second half of the book.
The author is easy to please. Many strategies give drawdown of more than 50% of the profit for the confirmation markets. I would not find that a validation, particularly after looking at the equity curve (I did test many of the strategies of the book across many markets).
Of course, robust often means simple, but another problem I find is that all the techniques in the book have been optimized for the period used and often for the selected indexes. For example, a system was reasonably performing from 2001 to 2005 in the book. I tested back from 1995, and the out of sample simulation did not give good results. Using European indexes did not show so nice result as well (I confess I am not as easy to please as the author). The author never looks at the difference between short and long signals. Of course, if the concept is strong, there should be no differences. For the indexes, the fact is the simulation of the combined indicators strategies show that longs are doing well in bull markets and bad in bear markets, the opposite for shorts, of course. Interestingly, the strategy appears to behave reasonably well (without slippage, commissions) only in the optimized time frame. Also, the analysis of the equity curve shows that, in some cases, most of the profits are made in a limited amount of time and the rest of the time it is not productive or counter productive. These very simple strategies heavily rely on optimization.
The concept of strategies aggregation to enhance the probability of success is of course good, though not new.

To summarize, I find the strategies quite weak (after slippage, commissions) and the tests too limited. However, the book is still a very good read for those really wanting to begin in mechanical trading. Many traps of mechanical trading are described. The author does not mislead the reader, though I find him easy to please for the test results.

About the Author

Donald Michael Kraig graduated from UCLA with a degree in philosophy. He also studied public speaking and music (traditional and experimental) on the university level. After a decade of personal study and practice, he began ten years of teaching courses in the Southern California area on such topics as Kabalah, Tarot, Magic, Tantra, and Psychic Development. Great for beginners

I was struggling to get started in a Hermetic-based tradition, and this fit the bill perfectly. Well organized and laid out with great introduction and pacing. Easy to understand if you're a complete novice.

THIS BOOK IS GREAT FOR MODERN TIMES WHEREAS A LOT OF BOOKS ON THIS SUBJECT IS INSURMOUNTABLE TO GET INTO AND IMPRACTICAL AND UNUSABLE.IT'S MY MAGICAL FOUNDATION.

its good but

I erased my old review to give a better one based on my experience. i would recommend this to a beginner. but a beginner that wants to learn ceremonial magic. this isint a book of spells. u will not learn how to do spells if thats what u want. it has rituals that require a very long time to perform learn and understand and they are not easy. the author says u can perform these in 15 mins, to me that is to short for a beginner. to get in a relaxing mode alone takes 10 mins, the first ritual is four steps. dont try them all at once. break them down until u get it one at a time. also the book only gives u a outline of modern magic, there will be many questions not being answered and u will have to do a lot of researching. it gives u all the steps for performing the rituals in full but u wont prob know why u are doing them. at least i didnt. it took me a good couple of months to fully understand the good use behind the banishing ritual. im completly new to it. i would say study this book along with "kabbalisitc handbook for the practicing magician". it would save u lots of trouble. it would give u more in depth of ur magic work in every ritual u do. i would only recommenced this to a beginner.
