Dr Wenjing Chen is an assistant professor of East China University of Political Science and Law (ECUPL Shanghai, China) with a master’s degree in European and Comparative Law from Ghent University (Belgium). She completed her PhD in Financial Law Institute (FLI) of Ghent University with the fund provided by Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC). Her research interests focus on the company law, particularly on those issues concerning shareholder protection and its practical perspectives. She has published articles in, among others, Company Lawyer, International Journal of Private Law.

This is the book my lesson teacher told me to get.

If you are trying out for Clinic or Senior Region/All State Band in South Carolina, this is the book in which your etude is located and from which you must play it (you must have the original-not a copy). If you do not know what this is, do not worry about it.

A good book for solos or sightreading practice.

Virtually every volume of trombone technique I've consulted refers to this work and its companion Book 2. Now I know why: It's filled with beautiful �tudes of medium difficulty that make practice a joy. A very reasonably priced volume that should handsomely repay dividends over many years of use.

Swiss-born Alberto Bachmann was a concert violinist and composer whose enthusiasm for the instrument compelled him to write about it. He wrote Le Violon in 1906, Les Grands Violinistes du Pass� in 1913, Gymnastique � l’Usage des Violinistes in 1914, and culminated his work as a writer in 1925 with the publication of this encyclopedia.

An unique window into a bygone era

Perhaps one of the broadest accounts of the violin ever written, An Encyclopedia of the Violin is a well-written, fascinating, and at times nostalgic account of violinmakers, performers, violin literature, and more. This is truly an epic and groundbreaking book that covers more information than one would expect from a volume several times larger. Published in 1925, it contains rare photographs of distinguished violins and bows, as well as well as vivid descriptions of intricate details of these instruments, as well as a guide on how make them! Another section is devoted to violin technique, including advice on how to play difficult passages from the violin literature. In addition, there is also a massive dictionary of violinists, containing the author's often insightful analysis into the style of the performers, and also includes their biographical information.
