I read this cover to cover DOZENS of times as a child--I loved it! Really, the childcraft books are interesting enough to appeal to reluctant readers, and engaging enough to entertain the adventurous. Highly recommended!

Hot, Steamy, Emotionally Raw

I couldn't put this down. I'm so glad I was able to get the complete series to read, or I would've gone crazy waiting for the next installment. The sex scenes were really hot. I love it when the characters are so well written that I really feel that I'm taking their journey with them.
Derek is a 31 year old, unmated Alpha. Usually by this age of you haven't found your Omega it's not likely you will. Which is fine by him, he doesn't want to be mated. While chaperoning his niece's party he smells a very enticing Omega. He goes off by himself to get away from it. When the Omega bursts into them room, Derek loses it and immediately bites Scott, the Omega, bonding them. He tries to mount Scott but Scott struggles to get away and is scared that Derek will take Jim even though his body isn't ready. Derek is very confused. One has are suppose to instantly want their Alphas. Scott tells Derek he's taking hormone suppressor. Derek is crazed with need so he has to call for help. They sedate Derek and begin to flush out the suppressor from Scott's system.
There are two schools of thought on having an Omega. The first, and original and conservative way of thinking, is that you own your Omega completely. He wears a collar and leash. He has no say in anything that happens to him. His sole purpose is to please his Alpha. He is no longer allowed to think for himself or feel anything besides what his Alpha wants.
The more modern way is for Omegas to have rights. To be treated as a person not an object. To have a say in the relationship and decisions made.
Derek is of the conservative way of thinking. His family is not and there have been plenty of arguments over it. Scott, being so young, is definitely all about being treated fairly. So they both are completely shocked at the others behavior but Derek has all the power in the relationship and he is determined to force Scott to do things his way. Derek can't understand why Scott's omega innate instincts are overpowering Scott's independence. Scott thinks Derek is a complete a$$hole for his way of thinking and what behavior he expects from him. Derek tries everything from spanking to a form of torture, the Omega box. This box is a form of brainwashing. It drives the Omega so crazy that he'll do anything the Alpha wants to make him happy, turns them completely submissive. After a couple of times in the box, Scott feels very uncomfortable if Derek even leaves the room. He starts thinking that Derek's way isn't so bad and if he continues to be a "good boy" then Derek will allow him to go to college and let him spend time with his parents and friends.
Scott's parents and friends are livid when they see the collar. Even though Scott tells them it's no big deal, they can't believe it. They know open-minded Scott would never think this was okay.
Scott goes to visit his friends, Ellie and Jackson. The three of them hug, they've been friends since they were little, so it was no big deal to Scott, although his instincts told him he should not be close to Jackson because he's an Alpha.
Things get completely out of control when Derek leaves work early to see Scott. Scott gets home by the time Derek normally comes home. When he Derek it's clear that he's drunk. When Derek smells another Alpha on Scott he completely loses it and goes to get the Omega box. Scott completely freaks out and jumps in his car to get away. Derek comes after him, chasing him down the street. Scott is so busy looking back to see where Derek is that he doesn't see the tree and hits it full force. At the hospital, Derek does alot of thinking. Scott's okay but he could've died and it would've been Derek's fault. He realizes that things have to change.
I left out most of the things that make this story impossible to put down. I took this emotional journey with these characters and I hope I've made this sound enticing enough that you'll want to find out about these two really great men and what makes them tick. Yeah, I called Derek a great guy because deep down he is.

****WARNING SPOILER ALERT*****
This was difficult for me to read. This has nothing to with the author and simply is my morals. That being said; I am NOT against BDSM themed stories. But in each of those books consent is very important and doing anything without consent is anathema. This book, while enjoyable, had very little consent, especially in the beginning. Scott was unable to give Derek consent about the claiming or even the subsequent bonding sex. That was difficult for me as well as the use of the Omega Box. As well as the collar and leash in public. I find collars and leashes to be very exciting in many different BDSM books. However, this was something that was kept either at home, or in a BDSM club. To go out in public, to meet your mates parents while their son is collared and leash was hard to take. Thankfully, Derek came to his senses and realized what he was doing was wrong. Unfortunatly it was too late for me to feel any sympathy for Derek. It was also a little too convenient that Jacobs mate suffered from being in the Omega Box and made jacob change just as Derek started feeling the same.

I love D.J. Heart, but I can see why the other reviewer was turned off! Derek is very cruel to Scott, though he does eventually see the error of his ways. I really enjoyed how Derek came to change his mind about all his beliefs about omegas and how they should be treated the more he got to know Scott.

Still... getting to the happy ending was not easy for Scott. He suffers a lot, and I really hated Derek through most of this.

As a consultant, Steve has had extensive involvement in the assessment and development of senior managers and executive directors. He has also conducted extensive research into the question of what differentiates outstanding performance at the level of an individual, a team, a business function and an entire organisation. This research has led to the formulation of a cohesive set of tools which have been implemented across many international organisations. Steve is a Chartered Psychologist and was recently elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

If I could give ZERO stars, I would.

Save your money. If I could have given this ZERO stars I would have. Wiley clearly is focused on just collecting the cash. Not only does the book not do an adequate job of covering the topics of the Series 3 exam, but it is also riddled with mistakes, miscalculations, typos, and errors.

For instance, in the practice questions section, there are numerous cases where the correct answer is mislabeled -- you have to be sure to read all the explanations to be certain you didn't answer it correctly but they've scored it wrong. Also, in the NFA/CFTC disclosures section, there is a whole block of text that was seemingly cut and paste incorrectly from another section. These errors go on and on. There are easily 10 errors / mistakes in each chapter. For the price of the book and the reputation of Wiley, I would have expected much better quality.

I find myself in the position of now having to go out and purchase additional exam prep materials because I feel like this doesn't even get me halfway there. Before you go thinking I'm just a poor test-taker, know that I successfully studied and passed my Series 7 and 63, each with >95%. So, it's not that I'm not capable. It's just a terrible product. I can't say it enough. Don't bother with this one.

Errors and typos throughout

This book is a head scratcher. So many errors and typos etc. throughout its rather odd. The test sections are confusing because the answers conflict with the info. Can't leave a review on their website so I left it here. Not really a good buy for the money unless you already have a firm understanding of the material

I agree with the previous comments. While the book does give basic fundamentals as to the information required for the series 3 exam. I found that I learned more through internet resources and supplementation materials than I did with this book. I passed my exam but there is no way I could have with just this book alone. In regards to the typos and incorrect calculations, they are commonplace throughout almost every chapter. Overall I would not waste the money, if you can find this book secondhand then do so and avoid paying for the cost of the book.

An Incredible Ride!

What an amazing book this is! I couldn't put it down, as it's filled with not only the author's own experiences with psychic questing and things paranormal, but also numerous references to other works and authors from occult/magical/historical areas, creating a larger picture. Absolutely mind-boggling and fascinating! Paul is a real explorer and guide into other realms and opens up a wider way of viewing and understanding reality. Here dreams, coincidences, synchronicities, intuitions, and inexplicable events (which many people often have to one degree or another and dismiss) are given a central place. It almost reads as a paranormal adventure story on one level, and a mind-altering voyage as a whole. And I do believe it's all true - at least everything the author conveys was experienced directly by him and/or others close to him. A must-read for any seeker with an open mind.

Esoteric Thrills & Spills - Magickally Relevant to the New Aeon

This book is a stunner, a rare pocket of gems in the heavily-abused mine of modern `occult' literature. Its main subject is spiritual mysticism, and this manifests in a variety of guises in this true account of Paul Weston's life. `Avalonian Aeon' embodies a panoramic, multi-levelled overview of the inner and outer landscapes of Avalon and her implications and ramifications in various Epochs. Its prose is entertaining and erudite, ever-pacey and psychically plush, as it seamlessly knits together such apparently disparate subjects as Thatcherism, psychedelia, the British landscape, the Glastonbury Zodiac, and a glittering array of personae from Aleister Crowley to King Arthur, and Kenneth Grant to John Cowper Powys; along with Glastonbury-local illuminati such as Dion Fortune and Katharine Maltwood. All of these topics (and much more) are informed and fitted around Paul Weston's personal experiences, primarily whilst psychic questing with Andrew Collins, and rehabilitating material explored by `Bernard G'.

`Avalonian Aeon' is replete with personal anecdotes and encounters garnered from the author's own rituals and perceptions, as well as those from and with his `Psychic Questing' colleagues. This was a new one on me, personally: a group of mystically-inclined folk following a certain historically and magickally relevant trail, such as a leyline or set of sacred sites, and indulging in full-on Delphi-style dissolving of realities....with apparent manifestations and materialisations of ritual equipment along the way. Whether one holds with this type of thing as `genuine' or not, it certainly provides a framework for the fruitful imaginings that are a necessary prerequisite to Magick - a willing and collective suspension of disbelief. Then come the inspirations and visions, and afterwards, the analysis and cohering of experiences and perceptions.

In the case of this work of modern occult genius, these concepts carry us from way back in the mists of Avalon/Time, through the author's life (1959+) and bang into 2012, as promised on the label. Talking of which, all three of Weston's books are embellished by stunning covers by local artist and fellow bastion of Glastonbury's mystical heritage, Yuri Leich. With such insight and talent involved, and with the world now rocketing into the Aquarian Aeon, there can be no doubt that more is yet to come. Here's hoping that Paul Weston continues to act as scribe and psychedelic psychopomp to these fascinating and magickally pertinent cosmic processes.

Not out of print!!

Wow!! Firstly this book is NOT out of print!! You can get it from the author's website, or in the US from Wieser Antiquarian, and plenty of other places.

It is a fascinating odyssey and mix of personal story and mythical narrative, history lesson, occult primer, all kinds of good things rolled into one stupendous book. In other words, I couldn't put this one down until I was done, and can't wait for the follow-up Aquarian Phoenix.
Mr Weston writes with a lot of humour, and this book has been compared many times to Robert Anton Wilson's classic Cosmic Trigger. I am sure this one will become such a classic over time too. Please buy it, it will break your brains, in the best kind of way.
Paul's other books, Mysterium Artorius and Aleister Crowley and The Aeon of Horus are also well worth a read. His Crowley book is yet another classic. Paul's head must be a fascinating place to live, I am glad he's sharing it with us.

Their role in clinical diagnosis, therapy, and safety is an emerging multidisciplinary area of study that shows great promise for non-invasive and low-cost point-of-care monitoring of many common diseases such as cancer, respiratory and gastrointestinal dysfunction, nutritional intolerance and metabolic disorders, including diabetes.

About the Author
Prof. Dr. Anton Amann is Director of the Breath Research Institute of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and Professor at Innsbruck Medical University. He is a recipient of the prestigious Marie Sklodowska Curie Medal of the Polish Chemical Society. Prof. Amann coordinated the EU-project BAMOD (topic: breath analysis of lung carcinoma patients, eu-proposal.voc-research.at) and is a steering committee member of the EU-project SGL for USaR (topic: searching of entrapped persons, e.g., using volatile compounds released through breath, skin and urine, www.sgl-eu.org). He is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Breath Research, which is published by the “Institute of Physics” (IOP, Bristol, UK, www.iop.org/EJ/journal/JBR) and Chairman of the International Association for Breath Research (IABR, iabr.voc-research.at).

Prof. Dr. David Smith is Professor in the School of Medicine at Keele University (UK). He is a Fellow of the Royal Society (elected 1988) and a Fellow of the Institute of Physics. He was awarded the Schrödinger Prize in 1992. Prof. Smith is the inventor of Selected Ion Flow Tube Mass Spectrometry (SIFT-MS) and Flowing Afterglow Mass Spectrometry (FA-MS), now widely used for trace gas analysis of air and exhaled breath. He is co-author of more than 390 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters, covering the fields of plasma physics, ion chemistry, terrestrial and interstellar chemistry, mass spectrometry, gas analysis, and breath analysis (more than 12600 citations in Web of Science; h-index 61). He is Founder Member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Breath Research.

Heavenly Highway Hymnbook great for nursing homes.

I have a collection of hymnbooks from several churches. This book adds a historical note to my collection.
Many of these songs were praise songs of the 1930's. I am a member of a chorus that travels to nursing homes, and I have found these songs are the songs that many of those people know. I live in Texas, where many of these songs were sung at tent meetings.

Shape note hymnal.

First ran into it at a gospel sing accompanying the big festival in Mountain View Arkansas back in the 70's. The church that hosted the sing had it as their regular hymnal. I've had and lost several copies since then. The newer editions don't have the songs I loved.

If you love country or bluegrass gospel music, it's a good one to have. I won't say that you MUST HAVE it, but I'm always glad to have a copy around. Doesn't have everything. No "Watchman Tell Me" for instance. But lots of others, Kneel at the Cross, Gospel Ship, We'll Understand It All By and By.

There are a couple of other editions, not as good for someone who loves the the particular genre. None with the brown paper cover, as far as I know.

Good old-time gospel

This hymnal brings back memories from my childhood, with old southern gospel favorites. The Heavenly Highway Hymnal has gone over very well with the older popluation at my church. However, it is written in shape notes, which the younger members complain are hard for them to read. The only real drawback I find is the size. The hymnal comes in 2 formats, a large print edition for easy reading, and a smaller "regular" edition. The larger book is almost too large to fit on our lecturn, while the smaller hymnal is so small even members much younger than myself say it is difficult to read. A nice mid-size edition would make this a more desireable purchase.
